GENAMIN BTMS

Genamin BTMS is a safe, efficient and widely used conditioning quat.
Outstanding performance on hair, such as soft, natural feel and excellent dry combing properties is combined with safe and convenient handling.
Genamin BTMS offers a superb softening effect for thick and hard to manage hair.
Genamin BTMS is soluble in aqueous systems, compatible with cationic and amphoteric surfactants, and has excellent stability over wide pH range.
Genamin BTMS acts as a cationic surfactant. Genamin® BTMS finds application in formulating leave-on and rinse-off hair conditioners.

Genamin BTMS is adsorbed onto the hair from aqueous and alcoholic solutions as well as from emulsions (dispersions) also in combination with other additives, such as film-forming agents and fatty components, and, because of the reduction in surface resistance, it prevents the hair flying after combing.
Hair damaged by bleaching, permanent waving or excessive degreasing tends to mat.
Genamin BTMS, used in cream aftertreatment preparations, considerably improves the wet combing properties and greatly improves the condition of the hair.
As a cationic surfactant, Genamin BTMS is adsorbed onto negatively charged surfaces without leaving a visible film, for example on the hair.
Because of this and Genamin BTMSs associated properties, Genamin BTMS is especially suitable as an active ingredient for hair cosmetics.
Genamin BTMS offers a superb softening effect for thick and hard to manage hair.
The antistatic effect of Genamin BTMS is also noteworthy.
Genamin BTMS Acts as a cationic surfactant.
Genamin BTMS provides improved shine and shine, good anti-static effect, good softening effect, good wet combing and is a volume enhancer.

Genamin BTMS by Clariant is a cationic surfactant for hair conditioner.
Genamin BTMS offers gloss/shine enhancement, a good anti-static and softening effect.
Genamin BTMS is a volume booster and has wet combing properties.
Genamin BTMS finds application in formulating leave-on and rinse-off hair conditioners.

Features
A very mild yet effective ingredient known for its detangling and hair thickening properties.
Because this ingredient directly deposits onto the hair follicle to smooth out the cuticles, it’s highly regarded for its conditioning abilities.
Genamin BTMS is used in many hair products like conditioner, detangler, shampoo and styling gel.
Genamin BTMS also acts as an emulsifying agent, gentle enough to be used in baby products that are left on the skin.
When Genamin BTMS used in lotions and creams, Genamin BTMS gives a soft and powdery after-touch to the skin

Benefits
Gloss / shine enhancement
Good antistatic effect
Good softening effect
Good wet combing
Volume booster

Recommended Uses
Genamin BTMS is used mainly in cream-type hair conditioners and hair replenishing treatments.
The concentration required depends on the hair.
The more damaged the hair is the more Genamin BTMS will be used to achieve best effect, starting at about 0.5% up to 2.0%, relative to the active substance.
Other possible applications are in the manufacture of antistatic fixatives for permanent waving, hair lotions, shampoos and styling creams.

Traditionally hair conditioners were a mixture of cetrimonium chloride or bromide with cetearyl alcohol.
More recently quaternary ammonium compounds based on fatty alcohols with longer chain length were found to be less irritating and to impart better conditioning.
The C22 behenyl molecule is particularly effective and is the basis of Genamin BTMS [Behentrimonium methosulfate] from Clariant, which also supplies Genamin KDMP [Behenyl trimonium chloride].
Other conditioning compounds from Clariant include Genamin SPA [Stearamidopropyl dimethylamine] and Genamin BAP, a mixture of behenamidopropyl dimethylamine and stearamidopropyl dimethylamine.
They are aimed at formulators of cream rinses and are acidified with citric, glycolic or lactic acid to give excellent wet and dry combing properties, to increase hair volume and to provide hold without build-up.

Commonly used in most hair products, it has the ability to balance the negative charge, minimizing damage to the hair under the effect of modern chemicals.
Acting as a cationic surfactant, the anti-tangle wax with a positive charge is absorbed onto the negatively charged surface to neutralize the charge, the hair will not tangle without forming a coating like many other anti-tangle waxes cause discomfort after use.
On the other hand, anti-tangle wax with a positive charge also has the ability to soften dry, hard hair.

Compatibility
Genamin BTMS can be used in combination with other cationic surfactants to allow special effects with regard to wet and dry combing properties and the feel of the shampooed hair.
Genamin BTMS is compatible with nonionic surfactants.
Genamin BTMS reacts with anionic surfactants by forming electroneutral salts; most of these are only sparingly soluble in water but stable solutions can be obtained by using an excess of an anionic compound.
No signs of incompatibility were observed with mixtures consisting of Genamin BTMS and commercial film-forming agents such as polyvinyl pyrrolidone, PVA and PVP/VA.

Solubility
Genamin BTMS is soluble in warm water but after cooling down Genamin BTMS precipitates.

pH stability
As a quaternary ammonium salt Genamin BTMS possesses excellent stability over a wide pH range.
Genamin BTMS differs from tertiary amines in that the cation persists also in alkaline medium.

Genamin BTMS Conditioning Emulsifier is an excellent cationic self-emulsifier and conditioner for both hair and skin care.
Genamin BTMS is naturally derived from Colza oil and is noted for its exceptional mildness.
Genamin BTMS Conditioning Emulsifier offers innovative properties to formulations as both a mild primary emulsifier and an excellent conditioning agent.
Creams and lotions made with BTMS Conditioning Emulsifier leave a soft, powdery feel on the skin.
Because Genamin BTMS Conditioning Emulsifier is substantive to hair, it imparts excellent body and spring and improves wet combing.
Due to its extreme mildness, it is suitable for leave-in conditioners.
Genamin BTMS can be used as sole emulsification system in creams, lotions or hair conditioners.
Genamin BTMS can also emulsify many silicones (up to 50% in a formulation).
