E-Glass Chopped Strands

Fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP), also known as a fiber-reinforced polymer is a composite material made of a polymer matrix reinforced with fibers. FRPs are a category of composite plastics that specifically use fiber materials to mechanically enhance the strength and elasticity of plastics. FRPs are used by the aerospace, automotive, marine, and construction industries as well as in the manufacture of ballistic armor.

Description

The Chemical Company (TCC) offers E-Glass Chopped Strands for the FRP market suitable for thermoplastic applications. The strands are coated with silane-based sizing, produced to industry-leading performance specifications.

Fiber-reinforced plastic allows the alignment of thermoplastic glass fibers to suit specific design requirements. Composite plastics refer to plastics that result from bonding two or more homogenous materials with different material properties to derive a final product with material and mechanical properties best suited for any design program demanding savings, precision engineering, finite tolerances and the simplification of parts in both production and operation. A molded polymer artifact is less expensive, faster, and easier to produce than cast aluminum or steel, and maintains similar and sometimes better tolerances and material strengths.
