PANGEL B 42

PANGEL B 42

Pangel B-42 is a powdered additive with a high thickening and anti-settling capacity for high polarity systems, particularly recommended for systems based on alcohol, glycol an ketone type solvents, as well as in mixtures of those with water.
Pangel B-42 is particularly recommended to provide thixotropic, suspension and sagging-resistance properties to systems based on alcohol, glycol an ketone type solvents, as well as in mixtures of those with water.

Pangel B-42 provides a strongly pseudoplastic character, producing high consistency levels without affecting viscosity during application.
Pangel B-42 exhibits its high effectiveness as anti-settling additive in formulations with high solid contents.

Use of Pangel B-42 has the following advantages against other conventional additives:
• Coatings and paints- Prevents settling of pigments and fillers; controls sagging without aggravating leveling; high stability during transportation and storage.
• Printing inks: Improves consistency and prevents settling of pigments.
• Paint strippers: Improves stability and facilitates stripping action.
• Sealants and joints: Improves wetting and suspension properties; controls sliding.
• Others: Control of sagging and dripping; improves stability.

Recommendations for use of Pangel B-42:
The dispersion process of Pangel B-42 is similar to that of other solid components of the formulation, being necessary to ensure an appropriate product wetting and the application of a sufficient mechanical energy (shear).
Equipment of the Cowles, Dissolver, Silverson types, colloidal mills, horizontal, vertical and basket grinding equipment are enough to obtain a good dispersion.

Direct addition with high shear equipment of Pangel B-42:
This is the recommended method for adding Pangel B-42.
In this type of equipment, the container and disk size, as well as the solid contents of the dispersion, must be appropriate for the mixture to flow producing what is known as “doughnut” effect at a high peripheral speed (18-25 mis).

When Pangel B-42 is used, the recommended addition sequence during the pasting stage is the following:
-Resin/solvents
-Wetting/dispersant additives
-Pigments
-Fillers
-Pangel B-42

Pangel B-42 has a strong pseudoplastic character that produces high consistency levels without affecting viscosity during application.
Pangel B-42 is highly effective as an anti-settling additive in formulations with high solid contents.
Pangel B-42 is ideal for a variety of applications including coatings and paints, oven cured enamels, water soluble paints, printing inks, unsaturated polyester putties, paint strippers, greases in vegetal oils, asphalt coatings, sealants and joints, nail varnish and much more.

Pangel B-42 is a powdered rheological additive with a high thickening and anti-settling capacity for intermediate polarity systems.
Imparts thixotropic, suspension and sagging-resistance to systems based on aromatic and unsaturated polyester type solvents.
PANGEL B-42  provides a strong pseudoplastic character, producing high consistency levels without affecting viscosity during application.

Pangel B-42 is suitable for use in printing inks where it improves consistency and prevents settling of pigments, in coatings and paints preventing- settling of pigments and fillers, sagging without aggravating levelling, in asphalt coatings providing- high thickening capacity, sagging control.
Market applications of Pangel B-42 include decorative enamels, alkyds, coatings for lower part of car, signalling, marine coatings, automobile priming oven-cured enamels, epoxy, epoxy 2K with high solid content, urethane, nitrocellulose based varnish, water soluble paints, newspaper black ink, heat-set, nitro-based inks, engraving inks.

As a general rule, Pangel B-42 must never be added immediately after the wetting additives, but rather it must be added once these have acted on a large amount of pigments and fillers.
Only in formulations with large contents of solids, will Pangel B-42 be added before the fillers in order to facilitate their wetting.
