ARBOCEL PWC 500

ARBOCEL PWC 500 is a medium-sized, off-white, technical raw cellulose fiber.
ARBOCEL PWC 500 acts as a thickener and improves open time and work-ability, as an absorbent or crack inhibitor in manifold application fields.
ARBOCEL PWC 500 is recommended for use in mineral tile- and other mineral construction adhesives.
ARBOCEL PWC 500 can be used to reduce the separation of light-weight fillers or to improve the slump resistance.

ARBOCEL cellulose fibres are environment friendly products, gained from replenishable raw materials.
Among other things, ARBOCEL PWC 500 is used as thickeners, for fibre reinforcement, as an absorbent and diluent or as a carrier and filler in most manifold application fields.

Technical Information:
Raw Material: Pure cellulose
Description: medium sized fibers, white
CAS No.: 9004-34-6

ARBOCEL PWC 500 is widely used in pharmaceuticals, primarily as a binder/diluent in oral tablet and capsule formulations where it is used in both wet-granulation and direct-compression processes.
In addition to ARBOCEL PWC 500s use as a binder/diluent, microcrystalline cellulose also has some lubricant and disintegrant properties that make it useful in tableting.
ARBOCEL PWC 500 is also used in cosmetics and food products.

ARBOCEL PWC 500 maintains the necessary advantages of a diluent.
ARBOCEL PWC 500 is effective as a bulking agent in your tablet or capsule, giving the desirable weight for your customers.
Microcrystalline cellulose has minimal bulk density, increasing flow characteristics.
Easy flow helps to ensure that each ingredient is consistently spread throughout a mixture.
If the mix is consistent, each tablet will have the same quantity of each ingredient at the end of production, creating a quality product.

ARBOCEL PWC 500 really does its job, and also it does it well.
ARBOCEL PWC 500 works well with many other popular excipients and is an integral part of many manufacturers’ formulas.
Binders undoubtedly are a crucial element in the tableting process simply because they ensure “hardness” in a tablet.
Additionally, compressibility affects all aspects of the final product, for example, disintegration, dissolution and absorption.
ARBOCEL PWC 500 is directly compressible and therefore can be compressed into a tablet without having to granulate or process a mix, making the overall manufacturing process more efficient.

Physical and chemical Properties:
Cellulose content: approx. 90 %
Average fiber length: 500 µm
Average fiber thickness: 35 µm
Bulk weight: 70 – 100 g/l
Whiteness (absolute value at 460 nm): min. 65 %
Ignition loss (850°C, 4 h): approx. 10 %
pH-Wert 6.5 – 8.5

ARBOCEL PWC 500 is widely used in diverse pharmaceutical processes, like wet granulation, dry granulation or direct compression.
ARBOCEL PWC 500 grades with low moisture-content are especially useful for application with moisture sensitive APIs.
Pharmacel has high compactability properties, meaning that strong tablets can be made at low forces.
These low forces can increase the life of tooling during tableting steps in production, even when the proportion of active ingredients within a tablet is high.
In addition, tablets containing ARBOCEL PWC 500, can be made to disintegrate readily when a superdisintegrant, such as Primojel or Primellose of DFE Pharma, is used, thus maximizing the potential for drug bioavailability.
Combined together with various directly compressible lactose (DCL) grades (granulated, anhydrous, spray dried), ARBOCEL PWC 500 exhibits improved functional properties which can be useful for direct compression applications.

ARBOCEL PWC 500 and carboxymethylcellulose sodium is used to produce thixotropic gels suitable as suspending vehicles in pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations.
The sodium carboxymethylcellulose aids dispersion and serves as a protective colloid.
Concentrations of less than 1% solids produce fluid dispersions, while concentrations of more than 1.2% solids produce thixotropic gels.
When properly dispersed, ARBOCEL PWC 500 imparts emulsion stability, opacity and suspension in a variety of products, and is used in nasal sprays, topical sprays and lotions, oral suspensions, emulsions, creams and gels.
