AMMONIUM STEARATE

AMMONIUM STEARATE

AMMONIUM STEARATE = STEARIC ACID, AMMONIUM SALT = ammonium octadecanoate = azanium;octadecanoate

EC / List no.: 213-695-2
CAS no.: 1002-89-7
Mol. formula: C18H39NO2

Ammonium Stearate is used in waterproofing cements, concrete, stucco, paper, textiles.

Ammonium Stearate is used extensively in the textile Industry, in acrylic latex compounds.

Ammonium Stearate is Foam stabiliser for coatings

Ammonium Stearate is Resistant to alkaline concentrations common in practice
Ammonium Stearate is Not resistant to acid systems
Ammonium Stearate enables Optimum dispersion of the expanded foaming paste
Ammonium Stearate enables uniform fine pores

Aqueous dispersion of ammonium stearate is mainly used in the field of gravure printing.
Beside the positive effect on the coating rheology, ammonium stearate dispersion damps the foam tendency during the processing operation.
Ammonium stearate damps the foam tendency and has a positive effect on the coating rheology.
In addition Ammonium stearate is based on vegetable fatty acids and is particularly suitable for applications in the food industry

Ammoniumstearate is an acid scavenger, release agent and lubricant in Plastic and various industries.
Ammoniumstearate is a cost effective chemical additive for plastics.

AMMONIUM STEARATE Chemical Properties,Uses and Production
Chemical Properties
cream or light yellow powder

Uses
AMMONIUM STEARATE is used in vanishing creams, in waterproofing cements and in polymer emulsions and coatings.

General Description
AMMONIUM STEARATE is white to yellow paste or liquid with a weak ammonia odor.

Air & Water Reactions
AMMONIUM STEARATE is slightly soluble in water.

Reactivity Profile
AMMONIUM STEARATE has weak oxidizing or reducing powers. Redox reactions can however still occur. The majority of compounds in this class are slightly soluble or insoluble in water. If soluble in water, then the solutions are usually neither strongly acidic nor strongly basic. These compounds are not water-reactive.

Hazard
A nuisance dust.

Health Hazard
None experienced under normal conditions of use. Ingestion causes irritation of mouth and stomach. Contact with eyes causes irritation.

Fire Hazard
Special Hazards of Combustion Products: Toxic ammonia and oxides of nitrogen may form in fires.

Safety Profile
A nuisance dust. When heated todecomposition it emits toxic vapors of NH3.
