2-Ethoxyethanol is a clear, colorless liquid with a sweet odor.
2-Ethoxyethanol is used as a solvent for nitrocellulose, resins and lacquers, and in varnish removers, cleaning solutions and textile printing and dye baths.

2-Ethoxyethanol, also known by the trademark Cellosolve or ethyl cellosolve, is a solvent used widely in commercial and industrial applications.
2-Ethoxyethanol is a clear, colorless, nearly odorless liquid that is miscible with water, ethanol, diethyl ether, acetone, and ethyl acetate.
2-Ethoxyethanol is manufactured by the reaction of ethylene oxide with ethanol.

As with other glycol ethers, 2-ethoxyethanol has the useful property of being able to dissolve chemically diverse compounds.
2-Ethoxyethanol will dissolve oils, resins, grease, waxes, nitrocellulose, and lacquers.
This is an ideal property of 2-Ethoxyethanol as a multi-purpose cleaner, and, therefore, 2-ethoxyethanol is used in products such as varnish removers and degreasing solutions.

2-Ethoxyethanol, Reagent is a clear and colorless liquid that is water miscible and also referred to as ethyl cellosolve, a widely used solvent.
2-Ethoxyethanol is used to dissolve chemically diverse compounds such as oils, resins, waxes among others.
2-Ethoxyethanols reagent grade means this is the highest quality commercially available for this chemical and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.

Applications of 2-Ethoxyethanol:
2-Ethoxyethanol is used for the preparation of low-density packaging foams.

Applications of 2-Ethoxyethanol:
A widely used solvent for nitrocelluloses and dyes 2-Ethoxyethanol is widely used as a varnish remover and degreasing solution.
2-Ethoxyethanol is a solvent used for nitrocellulose.
2-Ethoxyethanol is used as a component for dyes, inks, cleaning agents, resins, paints, destaining solution for lipoproteins on polyacrylamide gels.

Notes of 2-Ethoxyethanol:
Incompatible with strong acids, strong bases, strong oxidizing agents, aluminum, alkalies and copper.

Uses of 2-Ethoxyethanol:
2-Ethoxyethanol is a stable, colorless, flammable liquid, synthetically produced throughout the world.
2-Ethoxyethanol is produced by the reaction of ethylene oxide with ethanol.
A large portion is used in the coatings industry (paints, stains, lacquers) and as solvent for printing inks and dyes, and home and industrial cleans.

In 1998, the consumption in Western countries was 571000 tons.
The major function of glycol ethers is to dissolve various components of mixtures to keep them in solution until the last stages of evaporation.
The glycol ethers are miscible in polar and nonpolar solutions, which make them unique and add to the quality as a solvent and a cleaner.

Uses of 2-Ethoxyethanol:
2-Ethoxyethanol is widely used as an industrial solvent and production intermediate.
2-Ethoxyethanol is produced by the reaction of ethylene oxide with ethanol.
The glycol ethers are miscible in polar and nonpolar solutions, which make them useful solvents in paints and surface coatings, stains, lacquers, inks, and dyes.

Additional uses include industrial deicing, hydraulic fluids, and cleaning agents.
2-Ethoxyethanol was once used in cosmetic products but is no longer used due to toxicity associated with dermal absorption.
Global production has been on the decline in recent years based on demonstrated toxicity through oral, dermal, and inhalation routes of exposure.
The use of ethylene glycol ethers has largely been replaced by relatively safer substitutes, primarily propylene glycol ethers; however, their use as a solvent and chemical process intermediate poses potential for release into the environment.

Ethoxyethanol is an ether alcohol described as a solvent and viscosity-decreasing agent for use in cosmetics.
Ethoxyethanol Acetate is the ester of Ethoxyethanol and acetic acid described as a solvent for use in cosmetics.
Although these ingredients have been used in the past, neither ingredient isin current use.
Ethoxyethanol is produced by reacting ethylene oxide with ethyl alcohol.

Ethoxyethanol Acetate is produced via an esteriŽ cation of
Ethoxyethanol and acetic acid, acetic acid anhydride, or acetic chlo-ride.
Ethoxyethanol is metabolized to ethoxyacetaldehyde, which is further metabolized to ethoxyacetic acid,  which is also a metabolite of Ethoxyethanol Acetate.
